Scout Pages includes a range of ready-made pages for the information a Scout Group website needs most, including sections, joining, volunteering, contact details and more.
You can edit the content on these pages to make them right for your Group. For example, you can add your meeting times, explain how to join, share section information and include the contact details people need.
Why Scout Pages uses template pages
Scout Pages is designed to give Groups a useful, professional website without creating a large amount of content that needs constant maintenance.
When a website has lots of individually created pages, it can become difficult to keep everything up to date. Information changes, volunteers move on and pages can quickly become outdated if they are not regularly reviewed.
Template pages keep your website focused on the information parents, volunteers and prospective members are most likely to need, while making it easier for your Group to keep that information accurate.
What can I edit?
Each template page includes content that you can update for your Group.
Depending on the page, this may include:
- Text and headings
- Images
- Section meeting details
- Contact information
- Links
- Calls to action, such as joining your waiting list or getting in touch
The layout and purpose of the page are already in place, so you do not need to create a page from scratch.
Sharing regular updates
Your Scout Pages website is best used as the reliable home for key Group information.
For regular activity updates, photos and short announcements, many Groups use their existing Facebook group, WhatsApp community or email updates. This helps keep the website clear and prevents it becoming a collection of old news or out-of-date activity pages.
Can I create a custom page?
Scout Pages does not currently support creating unlimited custom pages.
This is intentional. The platform is designed to be straightforward to manage, even for busy volunteers with limited time. Keeping the website focused on a set of useful template pages means there is less content to review, update and maintain.
If you have important information that does not seem to fit on an existing page, please get in touch. It may be possible to add it to a relevant template page, and your feedback may help inform future Scout Pages pages and features.
