Team roles help you choose who can manage different parts of Scout Pages for your group website.
What roles are for
Roles give each team member access to the parts of Scout Pages they need.
This helps your group share the work without giving everyone access to everything. For example, one person can manage the shop, while another looks after policies or venue hire.
Available roles
Owner
Owners can manage everything in Scout Pages.
They can:
- Manage all areas of the group website
- Manage team members and roles
- Manage billing
- Transfer ownership to another team member
There should be one Owner for the group website.
Publisher
Publishers can keep the main website content up to date.
They can manage:
- Design
- Opportunities
- Calendar
This role is useful for someone who updates pages, events, and volunteer opportunities.
Venue Co-ordinator
Venue Co-ordinators can manage venue hire.
They can manage:
- Venue hire settings
- Venue hire enquiries
This role is useful for someone who looks after hall or venue bookings.
Shop Co-ordinator
Shop Co-ordinators can manage the shop.
They can manage:
- Shop items
- Shop categories
- Shop orders
This role is useful for someone who looks after group shop sales or orders.
Trustee
Trustees can manage governance and payment areas.
They can manage:
- Policies
- Billing
This role is useful for someone who helps with group administration, policies, or payments.
Changing someone’s role
Owners can change a team member’s role from the Team page.
A team member can have one role at a time. If their responsibilities change, the Owner can update their role.
Transferring ownership
An Owner can transfer ownership to another team member.
When ownership is transferred:
- The chosen team member becomes the new Owner
- The previous Owner becomes a Publisher
- The previous Owner will no longer be able to manage team roles unless the new Owner changes their role again
Notes for review
Owner cannot be chosen when inviting someone. The person must join the team first, then ownership can be transferred to them.
